Obama - what would you do?

I'm a little peeved today....my son came home talking about Obama the new president (since Santa is no longer president) and that black people are bad.  WHAT?!  Ok this is clearly something he overheard from another misinformed 4 yr old but still.....not what I wanted to hear today.  He isn't even old enough to take a bus to school.. Imagine what they'll learn in kindergarten.
Anyone ever get in some sticky situations with their preschools?  Leave us a comment, we want to hear your stories.  Feel free to tell us what you think of our current situation as well...

  2. I know...I called the school this morning BEFORE he got there and told her it needed to be set straight and she said it must've been a case of the "opposites" You know how some kids think the opposite when they hear something. It was to do with the fact they were talking about Martin Luther King Day and how people are different, etc. My bestfriend is Black and I asked him if she was bad and he said everyone except her!!! I wanted to DIE. She happens to be coming over today so she may know how to help me handle this one ;)

  3. Children pick up on everything. Unfortunately we can't follow around our kids and set them straight and tell them what is right and wrong. It is just a good thing and a credit to your parenting that your child felt comfortable telling you what he heard so you had a chance to address it. Be careful not to over react though because they pick up on it and may think twice about telling you next time, if it gets them or there friends in trouble. It starts early and kids learn so much so young now. We just have to be proactive as moms to continue to show and teach our children right from wrong. I think you did what I would have, explained that the info he heard was wrong and tell him that skin color doesn't determine if a person is good or bad peoples choices do that is why it is very important to make good choices everyday. Then I would let it go.
